The Christian Fellowship stall ‘Making a difference’ in Newport Indoor Market has this wonderful knitted nativity scene for sale. The proceeds will go towards the Newport X-Ray Appeal which is currently raising urgently needed funds for the installation of an X-Ray machine. This scene is so colourful and unique and is well worth going to see.
This weekend the 'Making a Difference' market stall is celebrating 21 years of service in Newport. The stall was set up by Cheryl and Jenny to provide low cost items for families in the town. It then moved on to support fairtrade, and was the first provider of fairtrade products in the town. Over the years, we have been grateful for Jane and Pauline's management of the stall and their entrepreneurial spirit.
As usual the Market will be staying open later than usual on 26th November, when the town’s Christmas lights are turned on. Traders are already being asked about orders for Christmas. It’s never too early to start planning your Christmas shopping and even your orders for ‘perishables’ (meat, veg, fruit and cheese etc) can be placed any time soon helping the traders plan ahead too.
New stallholder Julie and her daughter Charlotte joined the team on Saturday with Dollies Dungarees. Sewing had always been a hobby of Julie’s but Lockdown months meant time to get the sewing machine out much more and here starts her new business!! Welcome to the market Julie

Last weekend fellow stallholders bid farewell to Kerry Flavell who has been running her stall in Newport Market for just over two years. I Can Eat was a stall selling foodstuffs for those with intolerance to gluten and dairy and also vegan products. Particularly popular were her gluten free cupcakes which featured weekly on our Facebook page. We would like to wish Kerry and her family all the very best for the future and look forward to seeing her in the market as a customer

The definition of jam is 'A thick sweet food that is made by cooking fruit with a large amount of sugar, and that is usually spread on bread'. It’s that time of year when the Country Markets stall is beautifully stocked with jams and pickles. If you have a favourite you can order in advance to ensure the supply. Lemon curd - raspberry jam - red onion chutney to name a few.
Apparently there is going to be a pandemic baby boom!! If you know someone who is expecting that bundle of joy soon, the market is the ideal place to buy that perfect baby gift. The ladies at the Country Markets stall have been busy knitting and have a great choice of blue, pink and lemon baby booties and bonnets. A knitter yourself? Don't forget to support our wool suppliers in the market.
