Newport Indoor Market welcomes back stall holders Newport Indoor Market is looking forward to welcoming back the various stalls that were forced to close during the recent Covid lockdown. A spokesman for The Newport Market Company, which has owned and run the historic market since 1860, said “With the support of the stallholders, those selling food and other essential items within the market have continued to trade throughout the lockdown. We are delighted this week to welcome back the so called non-essential stalls to create a full house.” He said that the market had stayed open during the various lockdowns and continues to thrive with a waiting list for stalls. Since the refurbishment nearly two years ago, there has been an influx of quality specialist traders attracting a new generation of shoppers, who have now become regular visitors. Footfall has increased sharply in the last year.
